If this move successfully deals damage, it sends the user into a semi-invulnerable state akin to that of Fly or Bounce until the end of the next turn. While in this state, no attacks can hit the user (not even moves that otherwise never miss, like Swift), with the exceptions of Sky Uppercut, Hurricane, Thunder, Gust, Whirlwind, Twister, Smack Down, Aerial Virus, and any Wind-Type move. Gust and Twister's base power doubles against airborne Pokémon, and Smack Down cancels the effect immediately after striking. Any move may hit the user provided they have been targeted by Lock On or Mind Reader prior to executing Hover, or if the attacking Pokémon has the No_Guard Ability. The effects of this move immediately end if Gravity comes into effect mid-use, and will disable Hover for as long as Gravity is active.
Airborne Pokémon still take damage from any harmful statuses they may have, any harmful weather conditions that may be present, and from recurrent damage from moves like Wrap and Fire Spin. Note that the airborne effect also ends immediately if the user succumbs to flinching, paralysis, sleep, being frozen, infatuation, or confusion damage.
While Hovering Pokémon are capable of attacking while airborne, they must recharge for the turn after they land, provided they were not interrupted. Hovering Pokémon cannot use aerial invulnerability or levitation moves such as Fly, Cloud Call, Shadow Force or Hover itself. Similar, more terrestrial moves, such as Dig and Dive, end the effects of Hover following their use.

In a triple battle, this move may target anyone other than the user.
