This move hits the target anywhere from 2-5 times per use. There is a 37.5% chance that it will hit 2 or three times(respectively) and a 12.5% chance that it will hit 4 or 5 times (also respectively). Every hit of this move can potentially be critical. This move will continue if it breaks a Substitute before the duration of the move is over. If this move activates a Focus Band, Focus Sash or the Sturdy Ability before the duration is over, subsequent hits will cause the defending Pokémon to faint (the target will be protected from all hits of this move if it used Endure however). With each hit, this move can also trigger any Abilities of the defending Pokémon that require it to be struck (e.g. Weak Armor, Poison Point), Abilites of the user that require it to strike (e.g. Poison Touch), or items whose effects may trigger upon striking (e.g. King's Rock). Bide, Counter, Metal Burst and the Life Orb will only acknowledge the first hit of this move.

In a triple battle, this move may target anyone facing or adjacent to the user.
