The mechanics behind the operation of Chatter are too complicated and videogame-specific for this site to bother delving into. Suffice it to say that the move has either a 10% chance to inflict confusion on the target after it hits, or has a 0% chance. Which chance one gets is dependent on the sound one makes; both quiet and loud sounds grant the 10% chance, provided that the pitch and tone of the sound remains constant throughout the recording period. Recordings that fluctuate are more likely to grant 0%. The default Chatter cry always grants 0%.
In a triple battle, this move may target anyone other than the user. This move is the signature and exclusive move of Chatot. It cannot be copied with Copycat or Mirror Move , acquired through Metronome , Chaos or Assist and cannot be Sketch ed or Doodle d. If another Pokémon somehow acquires this move, the secondary effect will not occur if the user is not a Chatot. |
