This move prevents the target Pokémon from switching out of or fleeing from battle, including via self-fleeing moves such as Teleport. The affected Pokémon can still switch out via Baton Pass, but in that case, the Pokémon that switches in will be affected instead.
The affected Pokémon may also be switched out if struck by a phazing move, such as Roar or Circle Throw. They may also switch out via use of U-Turn or Volt Switch. In a wild battle, affected Pokémon may also flee via the Run_Away Ability. This move also has the effect of preventing the target from using any held items, and from having any items used on it by its trainer. This effect thus prevents switching out via Shed Shell, fleeing by Smoke Ball, or from using item-usage moves such as Fling. The effects of this move last for three turns (including turn of use) or until the user of this move is removed from play, whichever comes first. In a Triple Battle, this move may target anyone adjacent to the user. |
